From my first journals and essays, my writing process has changed drastically. Back then, I had no clue what I was doing. I did not have a writing format for my essays. I’m still having a little trouble with writing my essays, but it is getting a lot easier. I have to thank my teacher for teaching me the Toulmin Model of Argument and the Question Tree. Without her, I would not know any strategies to accomplish my argumentative essay.
I now know how to research for my papers. From previous papers, I do not remembering having any experience looking at sources other than online. I can physically go to the library and look for hard copy books. I know the importance of citing my papers and how to cite them correctly depending on the style. I’ve also completely wiped out “putting the citations in alphabetically in order” for the Works Cited page out of my head. It has been a long time since I have learned these tips, but it is good to get caught back up again. Hopefully, I will try to memorize these notes and try not to forget about it for future papers.
For my argumentative paper, I think it was difficult to know what I was going to talk about. I had a different approach from my previous journals. When my teacher was explaining how to use the Question Tree, she was using another classmate’s topic to help us understand better. The whole time she was explaining, I thinking of how I’m going to use this for my paper. I was stuck for a while on planning on what to write. I did not know how I could use this format for my essay. It could be my topic that was giving me a hard time.
