  1. How do you feel your writing has changed over the course of the semester? (Give me detailed examples with evidence pls)
  2. why do you suppose reflecting learning? why is it important?
  3. What do you understand about audience (and therefore tailoring your argument) that you didnt before? How can you use that knowledge to further your career as a student and as a professional?
  4. If you could have changed an assignment, which assignment would it be, how would you change it, and why? How would you (and potentially your classmates) benefit from this change?
  5. And finally, what can I do as a teacher to improve the gaming theme, the lectures, the assignments/projects, the journal entries, and/or anything else? Dont just say “nothing, it was all great” – take a moment and really think about this.

My writing has changed over the span of the 4 months of my English class. I knew before writing my Evicted paper that I was a little rusty in the writing department. My writing now could use some work and I hope I can fix if for future papers.

Looking back on your writing can help you with your writing in the future. Your past papers and your current paper can show your progress and know how far you’ve come in writing. You have to take a couple of minutes with your papers and spot the difference. Our peer-review helped me. I could have another perspective on my paper and I got to see mistakes and changes that I couldn’t see before.

Knowing your audience is crucial in writing a paper. You should think about your audience and change your vernacular to let them understand you.

If I had to change one of my assignments in my class, it would be my annotated bibliography. Our annotate bibliographies are very important source when writing a paper. It makes it easier for someone to read back through their notes without having read the entire book again.

If I could improve my teacher’s technique about her gaming theme, I would suggest her to think more about her students. Not all of her students are going to understand her and not all of them are going to have the same interests. While we were having discussions in class, I felt out of place when I didn’t know what the game or game style was. I would pretend to understand the topic and nod along with the rest of the classroom. Besides my comment, I think she is a very wonderful teacher. She takes her interests and incorporates it into the lesson plans.

Improvement

5 November, 2018

From my first journals and essays, my writing process has changed drastically. Back then, I had no clue what I was doing. I did not have a writing format for my essays. I’m still having a little trouble with writing my essays, but it is getting a lot easier. I have to thank my teacher for teaching me the Toulmin Model of Argument and the Question Tree. Without her, I would not know any strategies to accomplish my argumentative essay.

I now know how to research for my papers. From previous papers, I do not remembering having any experience looking at sources other than online. I can physically go to the library and look for hard copy books. I know the importance of citing my papers and how to cite them correctly depending on the style. I’ve also completely wiped out “putting the citations in alphabetically in order” for the Works Cited page out of my head. It has been a long time since I have learned these tips, but it is good to get caught back up again. Hopefully, I will try to memorize these notes and try not to forget about it for future papers.

For my argumentative paper, I think it was difficult to know what I was going to talk about. I had a different approach from my previous journals. When my teacher was explaining how to use the Question Tree, she was using another classmate’s topic to help us understand better. The whole time she was explaining, I thinking of how I’m going to use this for my paper. I was stuck for a while on planning on what to write. I did not know how I could use this format for my essay. It could be my topic that was giving me a hard time.
